Eva Illouz är sociolog, född 1961 i Marocko, utbildad i Frankrike och USA och numera professor vid The Hebrew University i Jerusalem. Hon har bland annat skrivit böckerna Consuming the romantic utopia – love and the cultural contradictions of capitalism (1997), Oprah Winfrey and the glamour of misery (2003) och Hard core romance – Fifty shades of Gray, best sellers and society (2014).
I LOVE her research themes and find them always super culturally relevant. Obviously since this was published in 2003, some points Illouz makes are not ultra revelational today but it’s crazy to see how the cultural ideas Oprah planted evolved in the past two decades, especially in the US.
